SAFER Lines Program in Nursing Homes

The goal of this training is to introduce medical directors and nursing home leaders to the SAFER Lines program for central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) prevention and standardized line care in nursing homes. This course offers a high-quality infection prevention solution to help nursing homes meet the newly-announced CMS risk-adjusted Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) Requiring Hospitalizations measure, which tracks infections acquired during nursing home stays.

This course provides:

  • A proven scoring system to promptly identify high-risk lines and intervene to prevent progression to CLABSI.
  • Evidence on how the SAFER Lines Program improves line care & prevents infection.
  • Defined roles for CLABSI prevention, emphasizing the importance of RN/MD communication to reduce CLABSI risk.
  • Free online materials for implementation, including QAPI plan.
