Join us for a live webinar on May 23rd, 2025, offered in collaboration with UPMC. This webinar will examine the changing epidemiology of aging HIV patients and their increasing presence in long-term care facilities. Through case-based learning, participants will explore common clinical scenarios involving HIV-positive residents in these settings. The speakers will highlight the most significant drug interactions with antiretroviral medications that impact geriatric care. Participants will develop practical strategies to effectively manage HIV in older adults with multiple comorbidities
Upon completing this session, participants will be able to:
- Review the epidemiology of people aging with HIV and its impact on long-term care facilities
- Discuss cases of common scenarios involving people with HIV in long-term care
- Identify the most encountered drug interactions with HIV medications

Sarah McBeth, MD
Dr. Sarah McBeth completed residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She continues to work at UPMC as a Clinical Associate Professor specializing in HIV at the Pittsburgh Area Center for Treatment (PACT). She is also the Medical Director of a community-based HIV focused clinic called Allies for Health + Well-being. In 2022, she was awarded a HRSA grant: Special Projects of National Significance, Emerging Strategies to Improve Health Outcomes for People Aging with HIV. She is working with the providers, staff, and patients at PACT to improve care for patients with HIV as they age.

David A. Nace, MD, MPH, CMD is Professor of Medicine and Chief, Division of Geriatric Medicine, University of Pittsburgh. He is also Chief of Medical Affairs, UPMC Senior Communities. Dr. Nace’s research focuses on outbreaks and infections, COVID-19 and antimicrobial stewardship in PALTC.
Dr. Nace is a past-president of AMDA - The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. A member of the ACIP Pneumococcal Vaccines Work Group, he has also served on the White House Coronavirus Commission on Safety and Quality in Nursing Homes, the White House LTC Vaccination Summit and on numerous state and national scientific expert panels.
